For
me,
one of the greatest things about music is the shared experience of
creating it with others. My teaching approach emphasizes this shared
experience and from the very beginning we'll make music
together. Being able to read music, both in standard notation and
tablature form, is a very important skill to have because it
opens
you up to a
whole world of musical resources and oppor- tunities, and I emphasize
this as well.
My
students are
generally adult, and interested in
folk and bluegrass fiddling rather than traditional classical training.
If you're looking for a more traditional approach, I'll be happy to
refer
you to some good teachers. For younger students, the
Suzuki
approach is a very good choice, and there are many good instructors in
the area.
I regret that
I'm unable to accept any new students at this time, and hope to offer lessons again in the near future.
